Aurora police recovered three guns and a small amount of drugs after traffic stop late Saturday in neighboring Montgomery, charging two juveniles with weapon violations.

Police officials said members of Aurora’s special investigations team conducted the traffic stop just before 11 p.m. near the intersection of Route 30 and Route 31.

Weapons were recovered on a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy, while a third handgun was found under the driver’s seat. Two handguns were stolen out of Texas, investigators later discovered.

Police also recovered suspected cocaine from a 21-year-old passenger in the vehicle and a 19-year-old passenger also had an active warrant for his arrest. Police said the adult men from Aurora were known gang members.

The two boys were charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon and transported to the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center. The other occupants were released pending future charges. The car was impounded.
